Birding the “No man’s land”: Help ID the bird
Please help in identifying a bird that I spotted while
birding along the South African border with Botswana last Saturday. The bird
was perched on the Botswana side and I could only get a shot of it after
spotting it with my binoculars and off it went.
Help ID the bird
Se parece un poco aun Carduelis cannabina, aunque desconozco si los hay por alli.Saludos
ReplyDeleteDear Mpho, the female sparrowlarks are often tricky to ID as they resemble seed-eaters with their short chunky bills and horizantal stance. This is a Chestnut-backed Sparrowlark, as it is quite dark below, with a black belly, and the chestnut on the upperparts is showing at the shoulder. All the best, Callan
